[mu]-GISAXAS experiment and simulation of a highly ordered model monolayer of PMMA-beads
Article Abstract:
Uniform sized PMMA-beads are deposited as a monolayer on silicon substrates using dip-coating techniques and high-resolution grazing incidence X-ray small angle scattering experiments are performed using a micrometer sized beam ([mu]-GISAXS) to determine the structure of a highly ordered monolayer with two-dimensional hexagonal arrays. They show a clear and strong interference pattern coming from the refraction and reflection effects of particles on flat surface with small-uncorrelated roughness.

Pulsed field gradient NMR studies of polymer adsorption on colloidal CdSe quantum dots
Article Abstract:
Pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR) experiments are used for studying ligand exchange between poly(2-(N,N-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) (PDMA) and trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) bound to the surface of CdSe/TOPO quantum dots (QDs). The studies have shown that only DMA units are directly bound to the surface and the remaining groups are present as loops or tails that protrude into the solvent and enhance the hydrodynamic diameter of the particles.

Surface structure relaxation of poly(methyl methacrylate)
Article Abstract:
Infrared-visible sum-frequency generation (SFG) is used for analyzing the surface structure relaxations caused by temperature changes at the free surface of poly(methyl methacrylate). The studies have shown that the surface relaxation temperature is independent of film thickness for a free-surface phenomenon.
